From Stress to Success: Overcoming Obstacles and Prioritising Self-Care

Was taking my son to boxing last night.. he’s loving it

Anyhoo… as I’m driving there, the car reminds me that I need to refuel

Thing is though, I was in a hurry… so I think logically

“I’ll drop Max off at Boxing and THEN I’ll fill up with petrol- no worries”

So I drop him off at the gym, make sure his coach is there and then I head off to the petrol station

Only to find a bit of traffic jam on the road that leads there (temporary lights are EVERYWHERE in South Shields right now)

And while I was sitting there, you guessed it….

Car conks out

DEAD IN THE WATER…

Whats worse? RIGHT ON A CROSSING

Whats EVEN WORSE… I don’t have my wallet with me

So picture this .

Car has broken down.
Won’t move AT ALL
Other cars can’t get past
Double-Decker BUSES are tooting their horns at me
I don’t have any money
My wife is in London so can’t help me out
My dad is away at the caravan so can’t help me out
My mate Mak is on holiday so can’t help me out

And then…

MY PHONE DIES

W00000TTTT

Luckily and thankfully, a lovely gentleman helped me out… had a jerry can. Grabbed a tenners worth of fuel and we ended up getting sorted

AND IN TIME to go and pick Max up from boxing

One of the most ‘eventful’ hours of my life

But you know

I could have saved myself A LOT OF ENERGY, A LOT OF TIME A LOT OF STRESS

How?

BY PAYING ATTENTION TO THE WARNING SIGN

And handling shit sooner

I see it all of the time with other areas of people's lives too

Doing NOTHING about anxiety, overwhelm or overthinking
IGNORING their mental health, physical health and relationships
Doing NOTHING about their relationships

And then wondering why they’re F*CKED

Listen, if you’re feeling those warning signs

Or have been for a while

And you know something (you) should really make some changes

And you’re been putting it off

Procrastinating

Ignoring the warning sings

THEN I’M RIGHT HERE
