Why Your Future Self Depends on Your Present Choices

Was travelling down to Birmingham yesterday with my son to watch Sunderland vs West Bromwich Albion

About half way there… we stop at a service station

And end up in WHSmith

We’re in the queue with a bunch of fans who are buying a LOT of booze

Cider, beer and Vodka

Kinda normal on a footie trip

Except its 10am.. sheeesh

Now, I don’t care if anyone drinks or not… its not my thing anymore but I’m not bothered it people still want to do it and have fun that way

Anyhoo...

I get talking to a couple of the lads

And I say “Tomorrow is gonna be a tough Monday, lads”

To which they reply “its not Monday yet, so screw it”

And I laughed…

See, back when I was a boozer

‘Friday Paul’ didn’t give 2 shites about ‘Monday Paul’

But ‘Monday Paul’?

He HATED 'Friday Paul'

And the thing is…

EVERYTHING I do right now impacts my future and my future ‘self’

Whether I like it or not

Whether in a positive way or a negative way

And the reality of it is this…

The QUALITY of my contention with my future self.. determines the QUALITY of my life and behaviours NOW
